Process Safety Management

The OSHA standard requires employers with hazardous chemicals onsite to develop a process safety management program which includes each of the following elements; the tools that APSM offers make the managment of the PSM documentation much more organized.

  1. Process Safety Information (PSI) - Dedicated library for all PSI related information.
  2. Employee Participation - Compliance tools within the site allow all employees equal access to PSM information facilitating the requirements for employee participation.
  3. Process Hazard Analysis - PHA specific tools allow for multiple PHA's and a simple revalidation process to ensure compliance.
  4. Operating Procedures - Equipment information manager is equipped with an SOP development tool which allows operators, managers, and contractors to create a customized database for your system equipment.
  5. Training - Online training program can be customized for your company and allows for detailed training documentation in all areas.
  6. Contractor - Track your contractor qualification forms online, and allow them access to your PSM data to complete forms, verifications, or permits.
  7. Pre-Startup Safety Review - Online format allows managers and operators to complete PSSR forms online and includes verification checklists for all requirements.
  8. Mechanical Integrity - CMMS allows for all preventative maintenance to be managed by the built in task engine. Use this tool to create your published schedule and overall maintenance routines.
  9. Hot Work – Online form and archival system allows hot work permits to be kept in an online form for review at any time.
  10. Management of Change - Track and complete MOC forms online for any type of change. Allow contractors or consultants to view or guide the process, and gives multiple people the ability to review or authorize projects from any web enabled computer.
  11. Incident Investigation - Online incident investigation forms are easily accessible for all employees.
  12. Compliance Audits - Audit checklists are structured into the ControlCenter allowing you to complete the required audits online, track the recommendations, and view compliance reports. This also allows managers and corporate personnel to access audit data at anytime.
  13. Trade Secrets - Not typically applicable to ammonia systems, but information about the involved hazards can be made available to employees only, due to the password protected access of the site.

APSM can help manage the EPA’s Risk Management Program that requires facilities to submit a risk management plan consisting of the following:

  1. Management system - The administration section of the ContolCenter identifies managers, coordinators, safety personnel, and those who are overall responsible for Part 68 implementation.
  2. Hazard assessment - Offsite Consequence Data can be stored in the forms section with all the RMP data allowing auditors, managers, and supervisors access to the required data.
  3. Emergency response program - Address the actions that you are going to take when there is an accidental release inside or outside the facility and work with the community by allowing the local fire cheif or your LEPC officer access to your site. This gives the first responsders access to your equipment information, shutdowns procedures, P&ID's and critical response data all from a remote location.
  4. Prevention program - A well managed PSM program can be acheived by using the tools within the APSM ControlCenter Suite listed above.
